Read the verb. Match the depth.
Every performance indicator opens with a verb. The verb tells judges, and you, how deep the response has to go. Recognize it, and calibrate.
Identify
Name or list. Surface-level recall.
"Identify the four Ps of marketing."
Describe
Give a clear picture, details, characteristics.
"Describe the nature of target marketing."
Explain
Show how or why. Cause → effect, process.
"Explain the concept of market segmentation."
Discuss
Present multiple sides; weigh considerations.
"Discuss factors affecting pricing strategy."
Demonstrate
Apply a skill live, show, don't tell.
"Demonstrate ethical decision-making."
Analyze
Break apart, examine components, draw insight.
"Analyze sales data to set targets."
Evaluate
Judge value against criteria. Take a stance.
"Evaluate the effectiveness of a campaign."
Develop
Build or plan something new from scratch.
"Develop a strategy to reach a new segment."
